Where it came from
Published by Marvel Comics in 2000, Before the Fantastic Four: The Storms #3 is part of a three-issue limited series that explores the early lives of siblings Johnny and Susan Storm. This series was released during a period when Marvel sought to expand the origin stories of its flagship characters, providing readers with a deeper look at the domestic challenges and personal histories that shaped the Storms before they gained their cosmic powers.
The issue features scripting by Christopher Golden and illustrations by penciler Gary Leach. The creative team aimed to ground the fantastical nature of the Fantastic Four in a more traditional family drama, focusing on the siblings' adolescence and their relationships before the fateful space mission. The series was generally received as a stylistic expansion of the existing lore, catering primarily to established fans interested in the foundational character beats of the Marvel Universe.
