Call of the Night #7

Call of the Night, or Yofukashi no Uta, was created by the manga artist Kotoyama and began serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 2019. The series explores themes of nocturnal urban isolation and the complex relationship between a disillusioned middle schooler, Ko Yamori, and an enigmatic vampire named Nazuna Nanakusa. The design aesthetic is characterized by high-contrast, atmospheric art that captures the eerie beauty of Tokyo at night, leaning into a stylized, moody palette that has become the hallmark of Kotoyama's work.

Volume 7 continues the series' established narrative trajectory, deepening the lore surrounding vampire society and the emotional stakes for the protagonists. Upon its release, the volume was well-received by fans of the dark fantasy and slice-of-life genres, praised for its cinematic paneling and character-focused writing. It remains a key entry in the series, maintaining the visual consistency and thematic depth that helped the franchise transition into a successful anime adaptation.
