Cat's Eye Omnibus #1

Cat's Eye, originally serialized by Tsukasa Hojo in Weekly Shonen Jump starting in 1981, emerged during a peak era for Japanese action-comedy manga. The series centers on the Kisugi sisters, who operate an art gallery by day and function as elusive cat burglars by night, seeking to reclaim their father's lost collection. The omnibus editions are designed to consolidate these long-running narratives into comprehensive volumes, allowing contemporary readers to appreciate Hojo’s blend of stylistic fashion, heist tropes, and lighthearted mystery.

Tsukasa Hojo, celebrated for his clean lines and ability to capture dynamic movement, intended the series to be an approachable caper that balanced character-driven drama with the thrill of the chase. Upon its debut, the series was well-received for its unique premise and became a foundational influence on the 'magical girl' and 'gentleman thief' subgenres. The omnibus format preserves Hojo’s original panels while offering a sleek, collected presentation that has remained popular with collectors and enthusiasts of 1980s manga aesthetics.
