Where it came from
The Cat's Eye Omnibus series collects the seminal manga work by Tsukasa Hojo, first serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump between 1981 and 1985. The series follows the three Kisugi sisters—Hitomi, Rui, and Ai—who operate a cafe by day and moonlight as sophisticated art thieves. This omnibus edition was released to repackage the original chapters into a more robust format for modern readers, preserving Hojo’s characteristic blend of action, heist-driven narratives, and 1980s aesthetic sensibilities.
Hojo’s design for the series is noted for its clean, expressive line work and the seamless transition between the sisters' mundane daily lives and their high-stakes criminal activities. As a foundational work in the heist genre of manga, Cat's Eye established tropes that would influence later series, and the omnibus release was received as a nostalgic return for long-time fans while serving as an accessible entry point for new readers discovering Hojo's mastery of character-driven storytelling.
