Where it came from
Choujin X is a seinen manga series written and illustrated by Sui Ishida, widely known for his previous acclaimed work, Tokyo Ghoul. The series began serialization in 2021 on the Manga Plus platform and its own dedicated website before moving into physical collected volumes. Issue 11 represents a chapter within the ongoing narrative, which centers on individuals known as Choujin who possess supernatural abilities, exploring themes of power, morality, and human nature in a complex urban environment.
The design of the series reflects Ishida’s signature dark, expressive art style, characterized by intricate line work and a focus on psychological tension. Upon release, the series has been noted for its experimental pacing and world-building, distinguishing it from traditional battle shonen manga. As with his earlier work, Ishida’s aesthetic choice for the series emphasizes fluid, often unsettling transformations and character-driven drama, which have been well-received by readers who appreciate his evolving approach to the dark fantasy genre.
