Choujin X #13

Choujin X is a contemporary manga series created by Sui Ishida, the artist best known for the internationally acclaimed dark fantasy series Tokyo Ghoul. First serialized in 2021, the story centers on individuals known as choujin—beings with supernatural abilities—and explores themes of identity, trauma, and societal evolution. Ishida’s decision to self-publish the series digitally before its wider print release reflected a modern approach to manga distribution, prioritizing artistic autonomy.

The thirteenth installment of the series continues Ishida's signature aesthetic, characterized by highly expressive, somewhat surreal character designs and intricate, kinetic action sequences. Ishida often uses these mid-series chapters to deepen the world-building, balancing intense, body-horror-infused combat with quiet, character-driven introspection. Within the broader context of the series, this issue serves as a critical point in the escalating tension between rival factions and the psychological toll taken on the protagonist, Tokio Kurohara.
