Where it came from
Choujin X is a seinen manga series written and illustrated by Sui Ishida, widely known for his previous work, Tokyo Ghoul. The series began serialization in 2021 on the Manga Plus platform and its dedicated website, reflecting Ishida’s shift toward a digital-first release model. Issue 12 continues the complex, supernatural narrative centered on individuals known as Choujin, maintaining Ishida’s signature dark aesthetic and focus on psychological character development.
The design and artistic direction of the series prioritize high-contrast visuals and dynamic, often unsettling character designs that define Ishida's style. As the story progresses, these chapters are compiled into tankōbon volumes, but the individual digital releases like issue 12 serve as the primary point of engagement for the global fanbase. The reception has been characterized by appreciation for the series' unique take on the superhero genre and the evolution of Ishida's intricate, expressive linework.
