Where it came from
The Colección Miguelanxo Prado series was released in the late 1990s as a dedicated retrospective of the acclaimed Galician illustrator and comics creator. Issue number 3 features 'Trazo de Tiza', originally published in the magazine Cimoc, which is widely considered one of Prado's masterpieces. The collection was designed to compile his complex, painterly narrative works into a cohesive archival format, reflecting the shift toward treating serialized European comics as serious literary and artistic contributions.
The design of this volume prioritizes the atmospheric quality of Prado's work, emphasizing his mastery of color, light, and surrealist storytelling. As a creator, Prado was instrumental in moving the medium beyond traditional genre constraints, and this collection was received by critics as a milestone in the consolidation of his legacy. It remains a foundational text for collectors interested in the evolution of the modern graphic novel.
