Dark Horse Presents #117

Dark Horse Presents #117 was published in February 1997 as part of the long-running anthology series that served as the flagship for Dark Horse Comics. During the 1990s, the series functioned as an incubator for creative talent and experimental storytelling, often acting as a testing ground for creator-owned properties and offbeat genre pieces that might not find a home in the traditional superhero market.

This specific issue is notable for featuring contributions from writers and artists who defined the independent comics movement of the era. The anthology format allowed for a stylistic blend of gritty realism and stylized illustration, characteristic of Dark Horse’s editorial focus at the time. While the series was often viewed as a platform for industry veterans to exercise creative freedom, the reception of individual issues was typically driven by the varied success of its recurring serials and the prominence of its rotating roster of contributors.
