Where it came from
Dark Horse Presents #118, released in 1997, sits within the long-running anthology series that established Dark Horse Comics as a premier publisher of independent and experimental storytelling. This specific issue emerged during a period when the series served as a primary platform for both established legends and emerging talent to explore non-traditional narrative structures outside of the mainstream superhero mold.
The issue is particularly noted for its varied content, which was emblematic of the publisher's philosophy of creative freedom. Like many entries in the series, the design and editorial direction were overseen by Dark Horse's team, aiming to offer readers a diverse 'sampler platter' of genres. It received moderate attention for its contribution to the anthology format, acting as a bridge for experimental creators looking to find an audience within the independent comics scene of the late nineties.
