Dark Horse Presents #14

Dark Horse Presents #14, released in early 1990, serves as a significant chapter in the anthology series that established Dark Horse Comics as a major publisher of creator-owned and experimental material. Launched to provide a platform for unconventional stories that fell outside the standard superhero mold, the series became a breeding ground for artists and writers to explore darker, more visceral themes in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

This specific issue is notable for its role in the evolution of the anthology format, showcasing diverse creative voices and distinct illustrative styles. While the series was curated by Dark Horse to bridge the gap between mainstream distribution and the burgeoning independent comics scene, it was received primarily as a prestige outlet for talent who wanted to bypass the creative restrictions often found at larger, corporate-run publishing houses.
