Dark Horse Presents #18

Released in May 1988, Dark Horse Presents #18 served as a vital component of the publisher's anthology strategy, which aimed to provide a platform for creator-owned stories and experimental narrative formats. This particular issue appeared during a formative period for Dark Horse, as the company was steadily expanding its reputation for fostering independent voices within the comic book industry by providing an alternative to the dominant superhero models of the era.

The issue is most significant for its inclusion of ongoing serialized content, featuring work from writers and artists who were instrumental in defining the anthology's aesthetic. The design and editorial direction were spearheaded by a creative team focused on high-quality printing standards and diverse genre exploration, ranging from noir to science fiction. As part of the wider Dark Horse Presents run, it was received by readers and critics as a reliable incubator for talent that would later gain prominence in both mainstream and alternative comics circles.
