Dark Horse Presents #22

Dark Horse Presents was launched in 1986 as a flagship anthology title for Dark Horse Comics, serving as a creative laboratory for independent creators to develop genre-bending stories outside the mainstream superhero model. Issue #22, released in September 1988, is notable for its role in showcasing the diversity of the medium, featuring a mix of sci-fi, horror, and experimental narratives that defined the publisher's early identity as a haven for creator-owned work.

The issue features artwork and storytelling from a variety of contributors characteristic of the anthology's mission to highlight both rising talent and established industry veterans. Its design and editorial direction were overseen by the Dark Horse editorial team to maintain a consistent aesthetic of high-contrast, edgy black-and-white art that allowed the individual styles of the contributing artists to stand out, successfully positioning the series as a staple for readers seeking alternative comic narratives during the late eighties.
