Dark Horse Presents #52

Dark Horse Presents #52 was published in June 1991 as part of the long-running anthology series that served as the flagship title for Dark Horse Comics. During this period, the anthology was instrumental in fostering independent creator-owned works and experimental storytelling, acting as a showcase for artists and writers who sought to deviate from the mainstream superhero tropes dominated by major publishers of the era.

The issue is particularly noted for featuring the ongoing serial adventures characteristic of the series' mid-period, where editorial focus prioritized stylistic diversity and narrative depth. The design and aesthetic direction of the cover and interior contents reflected Dark Horse’s reputation for supporting gritty, noir-inspired, and highly atmospheric graphic narratives, maintaining a consistent brand identity that prioritized artist-driven creative freedom over house-style uniformity.
