Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft #123

Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often abbreviated as DDSH, began its long run in 1965 as a German comic series published by Ehapa. It was initially conceived to provide a platform for the high-quality Disney comics being produced by Western Publishing in the United States, specifically focusing on the works of legendary artists like Carl Barks. By the time issue #123 was published, the series had firmly established itself as a cornerstone of German Disney fandom, valued for its commitment to showcasing classic Duckburg stories rather than the shorter, gag-based strips found in other publications.

The design and content of the Sonderheft series were defined by an editorial focus on longer, more complex adventure narratives that prioritized storytelling depth. Illustrators featured in this era were largely members of the 'Disney stable,' particularly those following the Barksian tradition of expressive character acting and meticulous detail. Issue #123, like many of its contemporaries, was received by readers as a reliable repository of canonical Duck universe lore, maintaining a consistent visual and narrative aesthetic that has allowed the series to remain in continuous circulation for decades.
