Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often abbreviated as DDSH, is a long-running German comic series published by Ehapa Verlag. Debuting in 1965, the series was created to provide a dedicated venue for high-quality Disney comics, focusing largely on the work of American legends like Carl Barks. Issue 119, released in the early 1990s, continues the tradition of collecting classic duck universe tales that were often too long or structurally complex for the standard weekly Mickey Mouse magazines.
The design of this series is characterized by its consistent, recognizable layout that prioritizes the storytelling of the Golden Age of Disney comics. By the time issue 119 was published, the series had established itself as a staple for German-speaking collectors who valued the intricate, adventurous narratives of Donald and his nephews. The editorial direction remained focused on preserving the integrity of the original artwork and scripts, ensuring that the legacy of Barks and later contributors like Don Rosa remained accessible to a dedicated regional audience.
