Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often referred to as the 'DDSH' series, began publication in 1965 as a German-language venue for classic Disney comic material. It was originally established to showcase the work of legendary creators like Carl Barks, whose stories had previously appeared in other formats, by providing a dedicated space for longer narratives and thematic compilations that resonated deeply with the European market.
Issue #128, released during the 1980s, continues the tradition of the series by curating a mix of duck-centric adventures that emphasize the witty dialogue and expressive character work the Ehapa publishing house became known for. The design follows the classic compact, pocket-friendly aesthetic that defined the German Disney comic landscape of that era, focusing on vibrant cover art and archival-style content that prioritized storytelling quality over the evolving trends of modern superhero comics.
