Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often abbreviated as DDSH, is a long-running German comic book series first published by Ehapa in 1965. Originally conceived as a way to repackage popular material from the United States, the series quickly evolved to include a mix of classic Carl Barks stories and later works by contemporary European artists. Issue #133, released in the early 1990s, fits into the established tradition of providing high-quality, long-form duck adventures to a dedicated German readership that had grown up with the characters since their local debut.
The aesthetic of this era maintained the iconic look of the Disney Duck universe, focusing on the character-driven humor and adventure that defines the Duckburg mythos. These issues were designed for both the casual reader and the serious collector, featuring a consistent layout that highlighted the specific storytelling styles of creators like Carl Barks or William Van Horn. While specific creative credits for the exact assembly of issue #133 reflect a curation process common to the series at the time, it remains a testament to the enduring popularity of the Duck family in the German-speaking market.
