Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft #131

The 'Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft' series was a long-running German publication launched in the 1960s by Ehapa Verlag. It served as a vital vehicle for bringing international Disney comic material to German-speaking readers, often featuring a mix of classic stories by masters like Carl Barks or Al Taliaferro alongside contemporary European productions. Issue 131 emerged as part of this consistent editorial mission, which aimed to provide an affordable, accessible anthology format that could capture the interest of both children and dedicated adult collectors.

The visual identity of these issues was characterized by the iconic Disney studio style, focusing on expressive, slapstick-heavy character work that defined the duck family's adventures. The editorial focus for these mid-series releases was frequently centered on balancing high-adventure narratives with the domestic, often chaotic humor of Donald Duck’s interactions with his nephews. Reception at the time of publication was largely driven by the high quality of the translated scripts and the nostalgic appeal of the artwork, securing the series' status as a staple of the German newsstand comic scene for decades.
