Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often abbreviated as DDSH, began its long-running publication history in 1965 as a premium platform for Disney comics in Germany. Issued by Ehapa Verlag, the series was designed to showcase longer, more ambitious stories than the standard Micky Maus magazine, often featuring the work of master storytellers like Carl Barks and Don Rosa. The series became a cornerstone of German comic culture, valued for its high-quality print and the intellectual depth of its selected narratives.
Issue #150 reflects the series' mature phase, maintaining the tradition of high-fidelity reprints and archival appreciation. The design follows the classic format of the Sonderheft line, which prioritized clear, balanced layouts to allow the artwork of iconic creators to shine. Received warmly by generations of German readers, the series is credited with fostering a sophisticated comic appreciation culture that treats these duck-themed adventures as essential works of mid-century American pop art.
