Where it came from
The 'Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft' series was established in West Germany during the 1960s by Ehapa Verlag as a key component of their expanding Disney comics portfolio. These issues served as a primary vehicle for translating and distributing the works of prolific writers and artists, most notably Carl Barks, whose intricate and adventurous storytelling defined the tone for the Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck sagas in the German market.
Issue #146 reflects the editorial approach of the era, which favored high-quality, long-form stories that emphasized the character's development and his humorous struggles with daily life. Designed with the signature vibrant, recognizable aesthetic of Disney’s mid-century publishing house, these issues were received with significant enthusiasm by a burgeoning audience of young collectors, ultimately solidifying the series as a cornerstone of European Disney fandom.
