Dragon Ball Chāo: Qīlóngzhū Chāo #23

Dragon Ball Super, known in its localized Chinese serialization as Dragon Ball Chāo, represents the official continuation of Akira Toriyama's seminal manga series. Issue 23 contributes to the 'Future Trunks' arc, a narrative sequence that reintroduced fan-favorite characters in a darker, post-apocalyptic timeline. This chapter specifically centers on the escalating conflict between the protagonists and the antagonist Goku Black, reflecting the series' pivot toward high-stakes cosmic threats and expanded lore regarding the gods of the Dragon Ball multiverse.

The art and paneling for this installment are primarily the work of Toyotarou, who was personally selected by Toriyama to illustrate the series based on his previous fan-manga experience. Toyotarou's design philosophy for this era focused on maintaining the kinetic energy of Toriyama's original aesthetic while adapting it to the more modern, streamlined expectations of V-Jump readers. Upon release, the issue was well-received for its tight pacing and the visceral impact of its fight choreography, effectively bridging the gap between nostalgic appeal and new serialized storytelling.
