Where it came from
Released in the mid-1990s, Jink was a spin-off series set within the expansive ElfQuest universe created by Wendy and Richard Pini. Unlike the main fantasy-focused saga, this series leaned into a science-fiction aesthetic, following a young girl named Jink in a future version of the World of Two Moons. It was designed to explore the social and political consequences of the established lore in a starker, grittier setting.
The art style of the series, notably handled by artist Chantal Goya under the guidance of the Pinis, departed from the traditional high-fantasy look of the main ElfQuest run. It was intended to reflect the harsh, technological landscape of its premise. While the series maintains a dedicated following among longtime readers of the franchise, it remains a distinct experimental departure from the core ElfQuest narrative trajectory.
