ElfQuest: Jink #5

ElfQuest: Jink #5 was published in the late 1990s as part of the expansion of Wendy and Richard Pini’s established fantasy universe. This limited series shifted the setting from the traditional high-fantasy roots of the World of Two Moons to a distant, dystopian future known as the 'Futureworld' era. The narrative followed the character Jink, a young scavenger, as she navigated a technologically advanced but socially fractured society that contrasted sharply with the elven-centric themes of the original saga.

The series was notably illustrated by Christin Berry, who brought a sleeker, more angular aesthetic to the ElfQuest franchise to match the cyberpunk-inspired environment. While the transition in tone and art style marked a departure from the classic visual hallmarks of the series, it was received by fans as an ambitious exploration of the enduring nature of the Wolfriders' descendants in a cold, metallic landscape. The creative team aimed to challenge perceptions of the property, pushing the boundaries of the established mythos through this noir-tinged science fiction lens.
