ElfQuest: Jink #7

ElfQuest: Jink #7 was published in 1995 as part of a spin-off series set in the expansive ElfQuest universe created by Wendy and Richard Pini. This particular story arc shifted the focus away from the core Wolfrider tribes to a futuristic, high-tech urban setting, exploring the life of Jink, a young elf living in the shadow of a human-dominated society. The series was designed to contrast the traditional, nature-focused fantasy roots of the franchise with a gritty, dystopian aesthetic that reflected the changing tastes of mid-1990s comic book readers.

The art and narrative direction for the Jink series were spearheaded by writer Trina Robbins and artist Cynthia Martin. They aimed to create a more grounded and sociopolitical narrative, moving beyond the high-fantasy tropes of the main ElfQuest titles to address themes of class divide and cultural isolation. While the series attracted a dedicated core of franchise followers, it remained a niche project within the broader ElfQuest canon, noted primarily for its departure from the established visual style of the Pinis.
