Excalibur #41

Excalibur #41, released in September 1991, stands as a pivotal chapter in the long-running Marvel Comics series centered on the British superhero team. Written by Alan Davis, who also provided the interior and cover art, the issue continued the series' penchant for blending cosmic absurdity with intricate character drama. Coming out of the 'Cross-Time Caper' arc, this installment allowed Davis to further refine the team's dynamic while leaning into his signature fluid, expressive linework that defined much of the title's visual identity during this era.

The issue is notable for its exploration of the team's post-caper regrouping, maintaining the witty, unconventional tone that distinguished Excalibur from the more traditional X-Men books of the early 1990s. Davis sought to balance the high-stakes superheroics with the whimsical, often meta-textual humor that fans of the series had come to expect. Upon release, the issue was received as a solid entry in the series, appreciated by readers for Davis's dual role as writer and artist, which ensured a rare level of creative cohesion during a period of frequent turnover in the comic book industry.
