Exquisite Corpses: Rascal Randy #1

Exquisite Corpses: Rascal Randy #1 emerged from the independent underground comic scene of the 1990s, a period defined by a surge in experimental, creator-owned narratives that challenged mainstream superhero conventions. The series was designed as a collaborative, surrealist anthology, utilizing the traditional exquisite corpse method where artists contributed segments of a story without seeing the previous panels to create a disjointed, dream-like narrative flow.

The character of Rascal Randy served as a recurring thematic anchor for this stylistic exercise, reflecting the era's fascination with dark humor and subculture aesthetics. Critics and collectors of the time recognized the series as an homage to the collaborative spirit of avant-garde art movements, appreciating its departure from linear storytelling despite its lack of broad commercial distribution.
