FemForce #99

FemForce #99, published by AC Comics in the late 1990s, serves as a quintessential example of the long-running independent comic series created by Bill Black. The title emerged during the 1980s as a nostalgic homage to the Golden Age of comics, focusing on a team of powerful female superheroes. By the time this issue was released, the series had established a niche but dedicated following for its fusion of classic superhero tropes and a distinct aesthetic style that leaned heavily into the traditions of mid-century pulp art.

The issue features the characteristic collaborative effort typical of AC Comics' house style, often blending writing and editorial work by Bill Black with various artists who shared a commitment to maintaining the series' specific retro-futuristic tone. Designed to appeal to fans of classic heroines, the book was received primarily as a continuation of a self-contained universe that operated outside the mainstream continuity of major publishing houses, allowing the creators to preserve the aesthetic and thematic consistency of their characters over several decades.
