G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #14 Hama Files Edition #1

Released in the early 2000s, this special edition revisited the original 1983 G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero issue #14, which was written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Mike Vosburg. The Hama Files series served as a retrospective, repackaging classic stories with additional editorial content and commentary from Hama, who is widely credited with defining the complex, gritty mythology of the G.I. Joe universe throughout his long tenure at Marvel Comics.

The editorial intent behind these reprints was to honor the creative foundation of the G.I. Joe franchise, providing long-term fans and new readers with context regarding how the narrative evolved from the initial toy-line tie-in to a sophisticated military soap opera. By including the 'Hama Files' annotations, the publisher sought to pull back the curtain on the character development process, grounding the high-stakes action of the original issues in the specific, tactical vision Hama brought to the series during the 1980s.
