Guardians of the Galaxy #28

Guardians of the Galaxy issue 28 was published in 1992 as part of the original series written by Jim Valentino. This era of the Guardians, based in the 31st century, featured characters like Vance Astro and Yondu, distinct from the versions popularized by modern cinema. The series was rooted in the cosmic expansion of Marvel's universe during the early 1990s, offering a self-contained narrative that focused on the team's ongoing struggle against the Badoon and their attempts to reclaim their lost heritage.

The issue features artwork by Jim Valentino, who served as both writer and penciler for much of the run. Valentino’s approach was characterized by a gritty, indie-leaning aesthetic that stood out from the more traditional superhero house style of the decade. While the series did not reach the immense commercial heights of major Marvel flagship titles, it gained a dedicated cult following for its consistent character development and cohesive long-form storytelling that lasted for over sixty issues.
