Gunsmith Cats: Bean Bandit #8

Gunsmith Cats: Bean Bandit is a high-octane manga spin-off created by the artist Kenichi Sonada, originally published in Japan throughout the 1990s. The series serves as a precursor and companion to Sonada’s primary Gunsmith Cats work, focusing on the titular character Bean Bandit, an expert driver and mercenary navigating the gritty, action-heavy landscape of Chicago. The eighth issue arrived at the height of the 1990s anime and manga boom, capturing the visceral appeal of mechanical detail and intense, cinematic car chases that defined Sonada's signature aesthetic.

Sonada’s design approach for this series emphasized a fusion of American pulp noir sensibilities with meticulous technical illustrations of classic automobiles. By this stage in the publication, the series had garnered a dedicated international following, particularly among fans who appreciated the blend of ballistic precision and stylized character dynamics. The issue reflects the author's deep passion for firearms and automotive engineering, elements that helped the franchise maintain its reputation as a standout example of action-oriented seinen manga.
