Heroes for Hire #3

Heroes for Hire #3 was published in 1997 as part of the series created by writer John Ostrander and artist Pasqual Ferry. The title emerged during a period when Marvel Comics sought to revitalize its street-level heroes, bringing together characters like Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Misty Knight under a formal business organization. The series tapped into the legacy of the 1970s Power Man and Iron Fist dynamic, blending urban noir sensibilities with the high-stakes action expected of the Marvel Universe in the late nineties.

The art by Pasqual Ferry is noted for its distinctive, stylized aesthetic, which helped differentiate the book from the more traditional house styles prevalent at the time. By focusing on the administrative and interpersonal tensions of a professional team-for-hire, Ostrander and Ferry moved away from simple vigilante tropes. The issue was received as a solid entry in the series, appreciated by readers for its commitment to character development and its expansion of the established Marvel urban underground.
