Heroes for Hire #6

Heroes for Hire #6 was published in January 1998 as part of the Marvel Comics series featuring the team led by Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The series was born out of a desire to capitalize on the cult popularity of the 'Heroes for Hire' branding from the 1970s, placing these street-level heroes in a post-Heroes Reborn landscape. The narrative at this time sought to balance the gritty, urban crime-fighting roots of the characters with the high-stakes, shared-universe dynamics that defined late-nineties Marvel storytelling.

The issue was written by John Ostrander and illustrated by Pasqual Ferry. Ferry's artistic contributions during this era were notable for a kinetic, stylized approach that helped distinguish the book from more traditional superhero titles. While the series was critically praised for its character work and ensemble chemistry, it ultimately struggled to maintain a consistent readership in the competitive comic market of the late 1990s, leading to its eventual cancellation after nineteen issues.
