Higurashi When They Cry: MEGURI #1

Higurashi When They Cry: MEGURI #1 serves as the inaugural chapter of the manga adaptation of the Higurashi When They Cry: Meguri story arc, published in Young Ace Up. This narrative was conceived as a reimagining of the Higurashi Gou and Sotsu anime series, providing a canonical alternative perspective that addresses the timeline of the Hinamizawa disasters. The manga is authored by Tomato Akase, who was tasked with distilling complex psychological horror elements into a cohesive serialized format.

The design of the series centers on Tomato Akase’s distinct artistic interpretation of the classic characters, aiming to balance the familiar aesthetic of the original visual novels with a more dynamic, modern manga style. Upon its debut, the series was received with significant interest by the established fan base, who were eager to see how the 'Meguri' version would resolve plot points from the anime that some found contentious. It remains a focal point for enthusiasts documenting the multifaceted nature of the Higurashi franchise's extended universe.
