Kamui-Den, or The Legend of Kamui, is a landmark work of gekiga manga created by Sanpei Shirato, which began serialization in the underground magazine Garo in 1964. This specific issue belongs to the second part of the saga, Dainibu, which expanded upon the complex socio-political narrative of the original series. Set during the Edo period, the story follows an outcast ninja struggling to survive in a rigid, hierarchical society, serving as a vehicle for Shirato’s intense exploration of class struggle, rebellion, and historical materialism.
