La Nouvelle Vie de Lili #2

La Nouvelle Vie de Lili emerged in the early 2000s as a contemporary continuation of the long-standing French comic character Lili, originally created by André Vallet in the early 20th century. This series was designed to breathe new life into the character by transitioning her into a modern narrative format, reflecting changing social dynamics while maintaining the charm of the original illustrated stories. Published by Éditions du Triomphe, the series aimed to bridge the gap between nostalgic fans of the original graphic novellas and a new generation of younger readers.

The artistic direction for this series focused on maintaining a distinct ligne claire style, paying homage to the visual heritage of the character while updating the color palettes and page layouts to suit contemporary standards. The creators sought to preserve the innocence and adventurous spirit that defined the franchise for decades. Upon its release, the series was received as a gentle, respectful update, noted by critics for its ability to preserve the classic feel of the source material while successfully anchoring Lili in a more modern, relatable environment.
