La Nouvelle Vie de Lili #3

La Nouvelle Vie de Lili is a French comic series published in the early 1960s by Éditions de Châteaudun. It emerged during a period when the adventures of Lili, a character deeply rooted in the long-running Bécassine-style tradition of classic French children's comics, were being reinterpreted for a new generation of readers. This specific iteration sought to maintain the wholesome, episodic charm of its predecessor while adopting the sleeker, more expressive artistic conventions that defined the middle-century bande dessinée aesthetic.

The illustrations for this series are characteristic of the mid-century Parisian studio style, focusing on clear lines and vibrant, flat coloring typical of the era's youth publications. While the creative teams behind these smaller press runs were often collective or anonymous, the design was explicitly crafted to be accessible and comforting, intended for distribution through newsstands and small local kiosks. It was received as a modest but steady fixture of the time, serving as a nostalgic bridge between traditional French graphic storytelling and the burgeoning modern comic market.
