La Nouvelle Vie de Lili #4

La Nouvelle Vie de Lili was a French comic series published in the mid-1940s, emerging in the immediate post-war period. The series was designed to continue the legacy of the iconic character Lili, who had been a staple of French children’s literature through the long-running Bécassine and Lili traditions. These publications served as accessible, lighthearted entertainment for youth during a time when French publishing was recalibrating following the occupation.

The art and narrative style of this series drew upon the classic ligne claire aesthetic popular in Franco-Belgian comics of the era. The creators aimed to maintain a sense of continuity for readers familiar with the original character’s adventures, focusing on domestic, relatable scenarios. While the series did not achieve the same enduring cultural ubiquity as Tintin, it remains a recognized example of mid-century French sequential art and is valued by historians of the period for its consistent visual style and role in the history of illustrated children’s periodicals.
