Where it came from
La Nouvelle Vie de Lili was a series of French comic books published in the mid-20th century, specifically during the post-war era when youth publications often focused on moralistic yet entertaining adventures. These pocket-sized booklets were part of a broader trend of small-format comics designed to be affordable and easily portable for children, reflecting the aesthetic sensibilities of French illustrated literature from the 1950s.
The character of Lili served as a central figure in a long-running cultural lineage of French comics. The design for this issue adheres to the classic ligne claire style prevalent in the period, emphasizing clear outlines and vibrant, flat coloring. It was intended for a young audience and aimed to provide wholesome escapism, typical of the serialized storytelling that dominated the market before the modern expansion of graphic novels.
