La Zorra y el Cuervo #227

La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban comic book series centered on the antics of a cunning fox and a bird, adapted from the classic Aesop's fable. First appearing in the 1960s, the publication became a staple of Cuban childhoods, serving as a primary source of entertainment that combined whimsical storytelling with the distinct visual style of the era's state-sponsored illustration. The series was deeply rooted in the broader pedagogical and cultural efforts in Cuba to provide accessible literature and serial media for a young audience.

The character designs were heavily influenced by the anthropomorphic tropes prevalent in mid-century animation and print media. While specific individual artists shifted over the decades of the series' long run, the aesthetic remained consistent, emphasizing bold line work and expressive gestures to convey the humor of the fables without relying on complex dialogue. Issue 227 represents the later period of the series, reflecting a time when the publication had become a deeply established cultural icon, widely circulated in newsstands and libraries throughout the country.
