La Zorra y el Cuervo #35

La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban comic book series published by the Editorial Juvenil, a division of the Instituto Cubano del Libro. Launched in the 1960s, the series drew inspiration from the classic Aesop fable, centering on the ongoing, humorous adversarial relationship between the cunning fox and the often-gullible raven. It became a staple of Cuban childhood literature, celebrated for its accessible storytelling and its role in promoting literacy and cultural education within the country.

The artistic style of the series evolved over its long tenure, characterized by clean, expressive linework that mirrored the aesthetic of international mid-century comics while maintaining a distinctly local tone. Designers and illustrators for the series were tasked with creating engaging, visually dynamic panels that could resonate with a broad audience. As issue #35 arrived in this series, it reflected the established narrative conventions of the fox’s schemes and the raven’s misfortune, serving as a testament to the enduring nature of traditional fables adapted for the contemporary cartoon medium.
