Le Dit du Genji - Asaki Yumemishi #3

Le Dit du Genji - Asaki Yumemishi is a manga adaptation of the 11th-century Japanese literary masterpiece, The Tale of Genji, authored and illustrated by Waki Yamato. Originally serialized in Japan starting in 1980, the series is widely regarded as the definitive visual interpretation of Murasaki Shikibu’s epic, praised for its intricate depiction of Heian-period court life, aesthetic sensibilities, and the complex emotional development of its protagonist, Hikaru Genji.

The French-language release, published by Delcourt/Tonkam, brings this monumental work to Western audiences. The design focuses on preserving Yamato's flowing, elegant illustrative style, which effectively bridges the gap between historical classical art and modern shojo manga conventions. Volume 3 continues the narrative arc, deepening the character-driven drama that made the original work a cornerstone of global literature and secured Yamato’s status as a master of the genre.
