Legends of the DC Universe #2

Legends of the DC Universe was launched in 1998 as an anthology series designed to bridge the gap between DC's various eras. The intent behind the series was to provide a home for self-contained, out-of-continuity stories that explored significant milestones and untold tales from the careers of iconic DC characters, effectively acting as a playground for creative teams to tell stories without the constraints of ongoing monthly mandates.

The second issue, published in March 1998, featured a story titled 'The Last Halloween' written by Denny O'Neil with art by Bret Blevins. As a veteran writer deeply associated with the Batman mythos, O'Neil aimed to capture the psychological nuance and noir atmosphere that defined his earlier work on the character. The issue was generally received as a respectful homage to the golden and silver ages of the DC line, utilizing the anthology format to highlight the stylistic versatility of the publisher's roster during the late nineties.
