Legends of the DC Universe #3

Legends of the DC Universe was launched in 1998 as an anthology series designed to bridge the gap between DC's various editorial eras, allowing creative teams to tell standalone stories featuring iconic characters without the constraints of contemporary continuity. Issue #3, released in March 1998, features a story titled The Brave and the Bold, scripted by Denny O'Neil with interior art by Dick Giordano. This pairing was a deliberate homage to the classic Bronze Age style, aiming to capture the chemistry and aesthetic that defined the duo's celebrated run on Batman titles decades earlier.

The issue focuses on a team-up between Batman and Green Lantern, emphasizing the investigative and character-driven approach that became a hallmark of O'Neil's writing. As an anthology, the series was received by fans as a nostalgic venture, providing a platform for veteran creators to revisit their signature characters. The design and presentation were intended to evoke a timeless feel, serving as both a showcase for legendary talent and a curated look back at the core mythologies of the DC library.
