Los Asesinatos de la Mansión Decagonal #3

Los Asesinatos de la Mansión Decagonal, originally serialized in Japan as The Decagon House Murders, was written by Yukito Ayatsuji and serves as a foundational work of the Shin Honkaku or 'new orthodox' mystery movement. The series is a deliberate homage to the Golden Age of detective fiction, specifically drawing heavy inspiration from Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. The story follows a group of university students who travel to a remote island, only to find themselves trapped in a ten-sided house where they are systematically killed, effectively reviving the classic closed-circle mystery trope for a modern audience.

The graphic novel adaptation, which includes issue number 3, features art by Hiro Kiyohara, who worked closely with Ayatsuji to capture the chilling atmosphere of the original novel. Kiyohara's design choices emphasize stark architectural lines and the unsettling geometry of the mansion, leaning into the psychological tension that defines the genre. Upon its release, the adaptation was praised for its visual fidelity to the source material's unsettling tone and its successful translation of the intricate, logic-driven plot into the medium of manga.
