Where it came from
Lupo Alberto, created by Guido Silvestri in 1974, remains a cornerstone of Italian comic culture. The character, a blue wolf navigating the challenges of life on the McKenzie farm, evolved from newspaper strips into various book collections. Issue #17 of the Lupo Alberto Collection was produced as part of the ongoing effort to anthologize these strips into trade paperbacks, ensuring that the legacy of the farm's inhabitants remained accessible to new generations of readers.
The design of these collections follows the irreverent and satirical tone established by Silvestri, widely known by his pseudonym Silver. The books were curated to capture the humor and social commentary inherent in the relationship between Alberto, his girlfriend Marta, and the farm's guardian dog, Moses. Critically, these compilations have been praised for preserving the classic gag-strip format while allowing the narrative arcs of the characters to develop over time.
