Mandrake: Merlín el Mago #11

Mandrake: Merlín el Mago was a Spanish-language comic series published in the mid-20th century, primarily circulating throughout Spain and parts of Latin America. The series adapted the adventures of Lee Falk’s iconic character, Mandrake the Magician, who debuted in American newspaper strips in 1934. These local editions were part of a broader trend of syndicating American pulp heroes for international audiences, often utilizing reprints or custom-drawn cover art to suit local aesthetic preferences.

The visual identity of these issues was deeply rooted in the classic illustrative styles of the 1930s and 40s, emphasizing the mysterious, tuxedo-clad stage magician as a modern-day sorcerer. Issue #11, like others in the run, functioned as a serial medium for readers to follow Mandrake's battles against exotic villains and supernatural threats. While specific archival records for the Spanish production teams of this particular issue are limited, the series remains a significant artifact for collectors interested in the migration and translation of American comic culture into European markets.
