Mandrake: Merlín el Mago #14

Mandrake: Merlín el Mago was a Spanish-language comic series published in the mid-20th century, primarily featuring the adventures of Lee Falk’s iconic stage magician, Mandrake the Magician. This issue belongs to the localized editions produced to bring the American newspaper strip format to Spanish-speaking audiences, serving as a staple of the adventure and fantasy pulp culture that dominated European newsstands during that era.

The character of Mandrake, created by Lee Falk and artist Phil Davis in 1934, was the first true costumed crime-fighter in comics. The design philosophy behind these international reprint editions focused on maintaining the sleek, hypnotic aesthetic of Davis’s original illustrations while adapting the dialogue for a regional readership. These issues were received as affordable weekly or bi-weekly entertainment, often cherished for their accessible format and the enduring appeal of Mandrake’s sophisticated, supernatural mystery solving.
