Mandrake: Merlín el Mago #12

Mandrake: Merlín el Mago was a Spanish-language comic book series published by Editorial Novaro in the mid-20th century, bringing Lee Falk and Phil Davis’s iconic illusionist to Hispanic audiences. These localized editions were part of Novaro's extensive effort to distribute American adventure strips throughout Latin America and Spain, often repackaging the syndicated comic strips into a convenient, portable magazine format that became a staple for readers of the era.

The character of Mandrake the Magician, originally debuting in 1934, was the first true superhero of the comic strip medium, blending traditional stage magic with science fiction elements. The design of these issues relied on the classic, clean linework of Phil Davis, whose art defined the character's aesthetic of sophistication and mystery. The series is remembered by collectors today as a significant vehicle for the international legacy of the golden age of newspaper comics.
