Where it came from
New Normal was a contemporary independent comic anthology series that emerged during the mid-2000s, reflecting a wave of experimentation in small-press publishing. Issue #9 was released as part of an effort to provide a platform for emerging illustrative talent, focusing on themes of social transition and urban identity that defined the series' editorial vision.
The issue was curated to showcase a mix of narrative styles, prioritizing visual storytelling that challenged traditional genre conventions. While the series did not reach mainstream circulation, it was well-regarded within the alternative comics community for its commitment to aesthetic diversity and the inclusion of avant-garde graphic artists who were subsequently influential in the independent publishing circuit.
